Terms of Service
Effective date: 27 April 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Walu service ("Walu", "we", "us", or "our"). By subscribing to Walu you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service. We've tried to write these in plain English; where legal language is unavoidable, we've kept it short.
1. What we provide
Walu is a hosted website service for UK small service businesses (including but not limited to cleaners, builders, plumbers, gardeners, painters, mechanics, electricians, and decorators). Your subscription includes:
- A published website built and maintained by us, based on your publicly available Google Business Profile and any additional information you provide;
- Registration of one
.co.ukdomain name in your business's name, while your subscription is active; - Hosting of the website on our infrastructure, including a valid TLS / SSL certificate;
- Email mailbox forwarding and addresses on your domain (e.g.
[email protected]); - Reasonable content edits requested by you, handled by our team.
Walu does not provide bookkeeping, marketing, paid advertising, SEO services beyond standard on-page tagging, or business operations advice. We are a website service, not a business consultant.
2. Subscription and billing
Walu is a recurring monthly subscription. After activation we charge £14.99 (fourteen pounds and ninety-nine pence sterling) per month, inclusive of any applicable UK VAT, billed monthly in advance via Stripe. Your card is charged on each monthly anniversary of your activation date. Card payments are processed by Stripe; we do not store full card details on our systems.
We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee from first activation. Cancel anytime in 1 click via the email link or by replying to our WhatsApp.
Pricing may change for renewals; we will give you at least 30 days' notice by email before any price change applies to your subscription.
3. Cancellation
You may cancel at any time, by emailing [email protected], by replying to any billing email, or by contacting us on WhatsApp. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current paid billing period. Your website and email service continue to work until that date, and you will not be billed again after it.
4. Refunds
We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee from your first paid month:
- Within 30 days of your first paid charge, you can request a full refund for any reason.
- After 30 days, monthly payments are non-refundable, but cancellation prevents any future charges. Your site and email continue to work until the end of the period you've already paid for.
- If we materially fail to provide the service (e.g. extended downtime that's our fault), we may at our discretion offer a pro-rated refund or service credit.
See our Refund Policy for the full detail.
5. Intellectual property
The Walu platform, our templates, code, designs, and aggregated systems are owned by Walu (or its licensors). You receive a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use them as part of your active subscription.
The content of your website — your business name, photos you submit, copy describing your services, and your customer reviews — remains yours. We make no claim of ownership over it. You grant us a licence to use this content solely to operate and display your website during your subscription.
Reviews and other content sourced from your public Google Business Profile are republished by us under the same public terms by which they were originally posted. If a reviewer asks for their review to be removed, we will remove it within a reasonable period.
6. Domain ownership
Domains are registered in your business's name as registrant, with us listed as administrative contact for technical purposes. While your subscription is active, we manage renewals at no extra charge.
If you cancel or transfer away, the domain remains yours. On written request, we will release the domain authorisation code ("auth code" / EPP code) so you can transfer it to another registrar. We will not hold a domain hostage.
7. Email service
Email mailboxes and forwarders on your domain are provided as part of your active subscription. Mailbox storage is generous but not unlimited in practice — extreme abuse (e.g. using Walu mailboxes for bulk unsolicited mail, file storage, or anything illegal) is grounds for suspension under section 9.
If you cancel, we retain mailbox content for 30 days as a backup, then permanently delete it. Export your messages within that window if you want to keep them.
8. Customer responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- Making sure information you give us about your business is accurate;
- Holding the rights to any photos, logos, or content you ask us to publish;
- Complying with the law in how you operate your business (insurance, tax, employment, advertising standards, etc.).
9. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Walu to publish or send anything that is illegal under UK law, infringes others' rights, is grossly offensive, or is intended to deceive customers (e.g. fake reviews, fake testimonials, false claims). We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section, with a refund of any unused prepaid period.
10. Service availability
We aim to keep your website available at all times, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted service. We may take the platform offline briefly for maintenance, ideally with advance notice. We are not liable for downtime caused by third parties (your domain registrar, Stripe, internet routing) or by force majeure events.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you in any 12-month period is limited to the fees you have paid us during that period. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost profits, lost business opportunities, or loss of data, unless the law prevents us from disclaiming this.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability where it cannot lawfully be limited — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
12. Privacy and data
Our handling of your personal information is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If a change materially affects your rights or obligations, we will notify you by email at least 30 days before it takes effect. Continued use of Walu after that date means you accept the updated Terms. If you don't accept, you can cancel before they take effect and we'll refund any unused prepaid period on a pro-rated basis.
14. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute that cannot be resolved by talking will be heard in the courts of England and Wales.
